Most window wells get ignored until something goes wrong - water in the basement, a window that won't open, or a well that's rusted clean through. That's exactly the kind of situation we walked into here. The old galvanized steel was so far gone you could see holes where the metal had completely corroded away. Not surface rust. Actual structural failure.

Before we touched anything, we measured and assessed what we were dealing with. The deterioration was deep, and it was clear a patch job wasn't going to cut it. These needed to come out entirely and get replaced. That's what window well replacement maintenance is really about - knowing when to fix and when to start fresh.

We pulled the old wells and went to work. New wells went in, followed by slope seal and caulk around the edges to lock out moisture at the foundation. Electrolysis tabs were added to slow future corrosion from the inside out. Fresh landscape fabric went around each well to keep weeds from creeping back in. Every step was deliberate. Nothing was skipped.

Covers and grates finished the job. The clear polycarbonate covers keep debris, rain, and pests out while still letting light through - which matters a lot for basement spaces. The egress window well setups got escape ladders too, which is a code requirement a lot of homeowners don't realize applies to them. Clean, functional, and built to hold up through spring rains and summer monsoons alike.

Window wells that are rusting, pooling water, or just looking rough are worth getting checked out before the rainy season hits hard. A free inspection can tell you exactly what you're working with - whether that's a simple repair, new covers, or a full replacement like this one.
