Water doesn't care about your landscaping, your deck, or your pavers. It finds the path of least resistance - and for a lot of homes, that path runs straight down into an unprotected window well. Once water starts pooling there, you're one heavy rain away from a wet basement.
That's exactly the kind of problem we deal with every day. We install window well covers in all kinds of situations - against concrete patios, through paver surfaces, tucked under existing decks, and in tight spots where a standard off-the-shelf cover simply won't work. Every install gets fit to the actual well and anchored properly to the wall. The sealing and attachment points are where most covers fail, so that's where we pay close attention.
Not every well is the same shape or the same size, and not every setting is a clean open yard. Some are surrounded by decorative rock. Some sit flush against a stamped concrete patio. Some are partially hidden under a deck with almost no clearance to work. We work around all of it - and we bring the right cover for the specific setup, whether that's a clear polycarbonate cover that lets light through or a grated cover built to handle foot traffic on a deck.
Good drainage inside the well matters just as much as what's on top. Gravel at the base helps keep water moving away from the window rather than sitting against it. When both pieces - the cover and the drainage - are done right, the window well stops being a liability and starts doing its job.
If your basement windows haven't been looked at in a while, we're happy to come take a look. We offer free inspections and can tell you pretty quickly what's worth addressing and what's holding up fine. No pressure, just a straight answer.
