Most homeowners don't think twice about their window wells - until water starts getting in or the metal is so far gone that a full replacement is the only option. That's the thing about window well deterioration. It sneaks up on you. What starts as surface rust and a little debris buildup can quietly turn into a much bigger problem underneath.

We recondition window well systems and do a full inspection every time we're on site. That means we're checking the well box itself, the cover, the grate, the slope, the seals, the anchors, the tabs, and the insulators. Every single one of those components plays a role. When one starts to fail, it puts stress on the others - and electrolysis becomes a real concern. That's the chemical reaction that accelerates metal corrosion when moisture, soil, and metal interact over time. It's one of the main reasons older galvanized wells deteriorate faster than most people expect.

The difference between a well that's been properly maintained and one that's been ignored is significant. A clean, properly sloped well with intact seals keeps water out of your basement. A neglected one - packed with debris, corroded at the edges, with a cover that no longer fits right - is basically an open invitation for moisture to work its way in. We've seen both ends of the spectrum.

When reconditioning isn't enough, we handle window well replacements too. Fresh gravel, proper drainage, a well that fits correctly against the foundation - it all matters. Whether it's a straightforward maintenance visit or a full window well replacement, the goal is the same: protect the window, protect the wall, and protect what's inside your home.

We offer free inspections, so if your wells have been sitting without any attention for a few years, it's worth having someone take a look. Catching a problem early is almost always cheaper than dealing with it after the damage is done.
